Billy Barbour
PGA Golf Professional (Apprentice)

Billy, like his dad, has been around the golf business his entire life.  While he didn’t start playing golf until he was 13 years old, golf quickly turned from a curiosity into a passion for the game. After high school Billy pursued his golf career further and played Division I golf for NCAA powerhouse Kent State for 2 years, and finished his collegiate playing career at Oral Roberts.  He graduated Oral Roberts University with a business degree.

After college, Billy honed his playing and teaching skills with PGA Tour coach Chris O’Connell.  In 2013, Billy began switching his focus from playing on mini tours to running Irish Hills. Since then, he’s been in charge of operations and day-to-day business at Irish Hills.

Even though his priority is running Irish Hills, he still strives to develop a tour quality game and loves to help others play their best.  If you’d like to improve your game, look no further, let Billy teach you what he’s learned from the best coaches and players in the world.

“I’ve been blessed to learn from the best.  Now I love helping others play their best.”
– Billy Barbour

Bill Barbour – Superintendent
PGA Golf Professional (Class A-Retired)

Bill has been around golf his entire life.  His father was the head PGA golf professional at Sleepy Hollow Golf Course (formerly Sleepy Hollow Country Club until 1962) in Brecksville, Ohio from 1939-1974.  Bill worked for his father for many years.

In 1976, he left Brecksville, Ohio with a dream of owning and operating a golf course.  His journey led him to Mount Vernon, Ohio to purchase a then 9-hole golf course.  Humble beginnings and steep learning curves were the starting blocks to his story.  With help from a few close friends and the wisdom of his father Bill started to grow the business.

In 1986, the dream to build a second 9-holes became a reality.  To this very day he remains humble, and credits a strong work ethic, treating people well, and giving generously, to running a successful golf course.  In 2026, Bill celebrates 50 years of owning Irish Hills and 52 years of being a PGA Professional!  Stop in anytime to chat with him, he always has a joke or story to tell.  You’ll leave with a smile and most likely a new tip to help your game.
